It not the most accurate temperature but it work pretty good. It would be nice if the next generation is better. I had Tripac on one truck and it was nice but lots of repairs so not so cheap to operate. Then I had Opti ilde on my S60 Detroit it was trouble free system and only replaced the engine starter one time at likemiles. The new development though is that last night I had my foot just enough on the throttle to not raise the rpm while watching a movie on my laptop but it triggered the system to not shut down or pop the message up. Well I was like that for about IDK 30 or 40 min and then I took my foot off because I was going to head to bed and the truck shutting down was going to be my que to go to bed Well it didn't shut down in fact 5 or so min later the idle spiked by itself and started idling really rough.
And it did not enter Regen mode for the def. It freaked me out so I just shut the truck off. The truck has never stayed idling above or below this temp but this morning my co-driver started the truck to warm it up and it actually stayed idling by itself and I didn't do anything and she said she didn't do anything.
Almost as if the engine brake was on or something but it wasn't. But it wasn't so she tapped the gas and it stopped But we are going to Laredo tx again this week so I guess we'll see if it was a fluke or not.Log in or Sign up. Find Trucking Jobs. Jul 10, 1. 2018 Cascadia idle override
I couldn't find a post for this for this model year but I just recently signed on with a certain big fleet company and they are very stricked about idling. This is a problem because my body literally will not let me sleep because of this god awful humidity. Which is an even bigger problem because lack of sleep I'm sure you all know means accidents.
Well my partner And I got stuffed into a brand new Cascadia and none of the tricks from the older models seem to work. Is there anyone who may actually know a trick because the only I know that actually works is pulling the ambient air temp sensors which I cannot find for the life of me because no one is specific about the location.

It won't idle unless the temp is below 20 or above I think But there is nothing to keep the trucks cool no APU's I'm not looking to idle every single night just the nights like last night that are just unbearably uncomfortable.I'm gonna be in a rental for few days next week. It's a Freightliner Cascadia.

Anyone had to override the engine idle shutoff on one of these? I've already asked to see if it has the Smart Idle or whatever, which will allow the engine to start itself when needed as an APU would. It doesn't. Gonna miss my APU for that time for sure. On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time.
This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine. Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU. Try the following: While parked and idling with cruise control on. Turn cruise off then on again.
If idle jumps one or two hundred rpm, these steps may be your cure. The directions will be on a sticker on the dash right behind where the Qualcomm mounts. Yup, you start the truck, set brakes, high range neutral, cruise. Have your temp control set where you want it before hand. Leave your key to on position in the ignition. Truck will start on its own and run to maintain the desired temp and shut off when temperature is reached. My apu bunk ac isn't working well at the moment so I've played with it a bit lately.
